Irene Schneeweis

Senior Manager, Strategic Communications

For more than a decade, Irene Schneeweis has worked to promote women's social justice stories and solutions. Before joining the Ms. Foundation in 2007, Irene worked for MADRE, an international women’s human rights organization, where she conducted research and communications outreach on US foreign policy and women’s human rights; managed a global volunteer program; and led human rights education delegations.

Prior to MADRE, Irene conducted research for the CUNY Law School's International Women's Human Rights Clinic with a focus on cases originating in Algeria and India. In 2002, she received an interdisciplinary master's degree from New York University, where she studied dance and politics in Latin America. Irene has also worked as an affordable housing advocate in Washington, DC, and has an extensive background in dance performance.

   

Domestic Workers United is an organization of Caribbean, Latina and African nannies, housekeepers, and elderly caregivers in New York, organizing for power, respect, fair labor standards and to help build a movement to end exploitation and oppression for all. Learn more and view video
